HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY TAKES PROACTIVE
APPROACH WITH LABOR The pandemic triggered many chal- lenges for all facets of business and the hospitality industry was not spared As a matter of fact, the restaurant, hotel and travel segments, have been hit the hardest. The ripple effect of the pandemic caused many bailing out of the work force, some by choice, others stricken with the virus, and some due to the closing of businesses. In an effort to bring workers back to the many vacant positions, employees are offering incentives that just a few years ago, could have even been dreamed about. Such strategies include hiring bonuses, hybrid 3 days in the office two day at home programs, higher pay, child care programs, etc. Do these strategies work, yes, but not to the degree hoped, ans there are still so many jobs still open and little to no relief in site. As the government winds down with its Economic impact payments, most peo- ple will need to return to work and the
open positions will quickly be filled. What will be seen and it’s already been- ing seen and felt in the industry, is the need for employers to be more appreciate and sensitive to the needs and desires of the employees. There are many articles written to raise the areness for both employers and employees as to how to navigate during these unprecedented times.
