One Fair Wage surveyed more than 1,600 food service workers in 6 localities include New York. The results found that customers have demanded female staff remove their masks during the interaction so they could see their faces and “implicitly determine tops on basis of appearance. The report is titles “Service Workers Experience of Health & Harassment During COVID-19.” More than 250 of survey respondents share representative comments from customers “Pull that mask dow so I can see if I want to take you home later.” Another comment “Take off your mask so I can stic my toungue down your throat.” You ended this piece with that last quote, which seems very incomplete. The mask policies adopted at restaurants, bars and eateries have allowed restaurants to remain open during the COVID-19 pandemic keeping some staff employed and able to earn a wage. The mask wearing has however created a new way for sexual harassers to prey on food service workers, particularly women — according to a new report fro the One Fair Wage advocacy group.
