No Grass Grows Under This President’s Feet By Ed Daniels, Publisher, Hospitality News If there is one thing I learned while traveling through New England recently, it is that no grass grows under the feet of ACF National President Chef Rene Marquis. As publisher of Hospitality News, I got a firsthand taste of the energy Marquis brings to the American Culinary Federation. He doesn't simply carry the title of president—he gets out into the field, meets chefs, supports chapters and stays connected to the people who make the culinary profession what it is. That was especially evident at the recent Harvest Dinner hosted by The Chefs’ Warehouse New England, an impressive gathering that brought together four ACF chapters under one roof—an unprecedented show of regional culinary unity. Chefs, educators and industry professionals came together around great food, fellowship and a shared commitment to strengthening the profession. Hospitality News was there, and photographs from the evening can be seen throughout our editions, capturing the camaraderie and enthusiasm surrounding the event. What impressed me about Marquis was his accessibility. He wasn't leading from a distance. He was right there with the chefs and members. Leadership requires visibility, energy and commitment. From what I witnessed in New England, Chef Rene Marquis isn't standing still—and neither is the ACF.
